Bridge School Benefit

When I was in the great state of California visiting MJM we went to this amazing benefit concert for the Bridge School, a school for the severely communication impaired, started by Neil Young and his wife Pegi. There were many great gigs there including (not in any particular order, because I can't remember) Neil young, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews Band, Trent Reznor, Death Cab for Cutie, Brian Wilson .. I know there were more but I drink a lot.

Anyway, WOW, I mean really what a line up.

Pearl Jam was so awesome, they even played Black from the Ten disk. Eddie Vedder is still as sexy as ever, and still makes really funny faces when he is singing. Pearl Jam has been part of the Bridge School Bene many times and Eddie seemed to have a good relationship with Neil and some of the students.

Foo Fighters brought the house down, I would defiantly seek them out to see again. Not to mention that the band members are hot! Great set list, they dedicated Hero to the kids, I felt it to be an emotional high point in the concert.

Dave Matthews Band, so so to me, I am not a big lover of the "jam band" and by the time they came on it was late and cold as hell which probably skewed my opinion more than I think, but I do think that DMB has a cohesiveness between the band members that is not often seen, and should be applauded. Also Dave himself is pretty cute and has a very sexy speaking voice (when you can understand what he is saying)

Death Cab for Cutie, very cool, more poppy than I expected but still good sound, fun band.

Brian Wilson, tons of energy in this 10 piece mix, some old Beach Boys tunes, he looks like he is 500 years old.

And the best for last - Trent, da da da dam, did I mention that this entire concert is acoustic? I was a bit concerned about how Trent was going to pull off his sound but there was no need for concern what-so-ever, he had a string quartet, two cellos, a bass, and a violin and some other thing? ROCK ROCK ROCK, it was absolutely amazing, I had tears in my eyes with his closing of Hurt. Trent changed his look a bit since my teen crush and looks a hell of a lot better, save the beard that is. I can't rave enough about how truly amazing this set was and how privileged I am to have seen such a rare appearance.

There is a possibility that I will need to make this California trip annual.

Chicken "slap-back"

This story begins approximately five years ago when my brother’s girlfriend lived in the dorms at Otterbein College. The two of them went to the cafeteria there to enjoy a lunch and my brother ordered a chicken sandwich. He takes a big bite and there happened to be a "fat line" running through the sandwich and when he tried to pull the bite away from his face the rest of the chicken breast flew out from between the buns and slapped him in the face; now know as the "slap-back". After hearing about this horrific incident I have refrained from eating chicken sandwiches of any kind. Well today I had to run many errands at my lunch and fast food was my only option. I pulled through McDonald's drive through dreading the decision of what to eat. I decided since it had been approximately five years since the last chicken sandwich passed my lips I would give it another go-around. This was a mistake. I ordered a McSpicy McChicken McCrispy and what do you think happened to me? You guessed it slap-back. Never again friends, never again will a chicken sandwich make its way to my belly, in fact I may never eat chicken again, or better yet I am seriously considering trying this whole vegetarian thing out.

Are you sure pumpkin carving can get me a diploma?

Last night I had a dream I was in an accident and was in a coma for the last year of my high schooling, when I awoke from the coma I had to go back to kindergarten. After being in kindergarten for a few months I was ready to finish my senior year but there was a problem with scheduling and I was told that there was no way I would be able to graduate and it was final, it was not as if I could just graduate the following year it was as if I were not ever able to obtain a high school diploma. I was very upset in the dream and kept going back to the school explaining that I really needed to be able to graduate and they were going to have to make an exception and get me into the classes I needed to graduate. Finally someone worked something out and I was able to get back into school, I was given my course schedule and the classes were all weird like pumpkin carving, spelling, coloring, and gardening. I was assured that these classes, once completed, would lead to my graduation. The last part of the dream I remember was me sitting in a cap and gown sitting next to the people I had a locker next to all of my high school years.

Dreams can be so strange.

Long diddy Long Long

Two things that have been a Long time coming:

10/03/06 - Long Street here I come! DK and I are FINALLY moving to Long St. For those of you who may not know, DK and I bought an upstairs-downstairs duplex on Long street in June, or was it July??, who knows. Anyway, we have been diligently (I should say HE has been diligently working; and I have done some work but it would just not be me if I did not take full credit) to get the downstairs unit ready for a tenant and the upstairs unit ready for us to live in, well low and behold it took a teeny tiny bit longer (ha) than we thought to accomplish this task and the upstairs is a TOTAL DISASTER, so we will be moving into the downstairs unit for now. Anyway you look at it at least I am moving out of the hood.

and

10/20/06 - I am going to sunny California to visit MJM! I can't wait!!
